In 1995 we began selling lab grown diamonds in the United States and Canada. Then we were known as Ultimate Created Diamond Company (UCD) and we were one of the first to enter this new and exciting world of luxury lab grown diamonds. Our partnerships with brilliant physicists and engineers evolved into Lucent Diamonds in 2000. Today we are recognized as an industry pioneer and renowned supplier of the finest fancy color and colorless lab grown diamonds.

From the start the gem diamond market showed a great amount of interest in our lab grown diamonds. But with physical and optical properties identical to natural mined diamonds at a lower price, our diamonds were both a scientific curiosity and a threat to the diamond trade. Intense yellow and orange color diamonds in polished sizes under a carat constituted our first few years of production. During the past twenty years we have achieved fancy colors across the entire diamond color spectrum including spectacular greens, pinks, purples, reds, and blues. Read more details below in our brief history of Lucent Diamonds.

Colorless diamonds were always possible to grow but difficult and initially not commercially viable. Both technologies for diamond growth (HPHT & CVD) reached levels of maturity around 2014 that finally allowed us to produce the highly desired pure type IIa colorless lab grown diamonds.

Lucent Diamonds has navigated our journey "On the Cutting Edge" by providing our trade partners with innovative diamonds and ethically sourced jewelry at affordable prices. Our diamonds are less expensive to grow above-ground than to extract from below-ground. They are environmentally friendly especially when grown using solar and geothermal energy sources. Lucent Lab Grown Diamonds are simply fine cut and polished diamonds with full grading reports from GIA and other major diamond grading labs.

Our diamond growth capabilities have always been restricted by the type of technology that we were using. That was certainly true in 1996 when our primary diamond grower was a tabletop press called BARS, a unique apparatus that paved the way for the future of gem-quality lab grown diamonds.

Our initial production was concentrated on creating vivid and intense fancy yellow and fancy orange diamonds. With the BARS apparatus and newer technologies developed over the years, we were able to achieve most of the colors that diamonds can express.

Our diamonds are grown today using the most advanced HPHT (High Pressure - High Temperature) and CVD (Chemical Vapor Deposition) technologies available, growers that perform beyond any of our original expectations. However we still use the BARS apparatuses to grow our Bespoke Diamonds.

In early 2000 Lucent Diamonds expanded our lab grown diamond offerings by developing expertise in extracting carbon from biological sources such flowers and from a multitude of other carbon sources to purity levels that allowed us to grow diamonds.

Lucent Bouquet Diamonds is a special Bespoke Diamond service that we offer to transform wedding bouquets into lab grown diamonds for an ultimately unique anniversary gift.

Growing blue diamonds was always a major goal for us. Turned out not to be as simple as sprinkling a little boron into the growth mixture. When we perfected our blues in 1999, the industry took notice.

Sales of blue diamonds have always been strong and today we are able to consistently provide the market with the finest blues in sizes above 2 carats.

Diamond connoisseurs worldwide have recognized for centuries that the rarest diamond – in truth, the rarest gem in the world – is a natural red diamond. And pinks are not far behind. Our physicists led the way to the first lab created gem quality red diamonds in 1998 followed by magnificent pinks several years later.

In 2004 we branded Imperial Red Diamonds. We continue to create our red diamonds in lab grown polished sizes up to 5 carats.

PBS NOVA's "The Diamond Deception" and BBC Horizon's "The Diamond Makers" (2000) began a worldwide education of the magnificent qualities of diamonds grown in a lab.

NARRATOR: But how would we feel if this miracle of nature could be copied, atom by atom, in a laboratory in just a few hours? Could any reproduction, no matter how faithful, ever compare with a natural stone?

ALEX GRIZENKO: A diamond is a diamond. If it is carbon and if it looks like a diamond, it is a diamond. It is not a simulant. And as we know, there are many simulants on the market. Cubic zirconia has been around for many years. A new simulant called moissanite has entered the marketplace. But these are all pretending to be carbon. They are not carbon. Hence, they are not diamonds.

In 2002 Lucent Diamonds developed a technology using only ultra-high pressure and heat to permanently color enhance both selected natural and precision grown diamonds.

Our most outstanding color result is a highly saturated combination of yellow and luminescent green. Lucent Citrus Diamonds possess a special and rare color shift ability. In bright lighting conditions they exhibit predominant greenish hues, in dimmer lighting conditions they immediately turn more yellow.

A stunning effect for fashion jewelry.

Today’s latest HPHT and CVD diamond growing technologies produce Lucent Lab Grown Diamonds in sizes up to 10 carat polished diamonds with available clarities from SI1 to VVS1/IF.

With improved color and size, we offer our ever-popular Lucent Lab Grown Fancy Pink Diamonds.
